Yup. I’ve never done birth photography and certainly hadn’t planned on doing any last Sunday when we went to Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm for some Cabane à Sucre, but boy did we get a show! We’re strolling through the stables and there’s this major crowd around the cow’s pen. I look in and within a few minutes (literally!) this is what we saw!
It happened so fast and I cracked up at the look on my daughter’s face…”Mommy. You did THAT!?” “Well, yes, but you didn’t come out feet first and you were a total slacker…you didn’t walk on your first day!”
It was pretty amazing to see and I’m glad for the Mommy cow’s sake that it was a quick birth. Truly incredible!
And if you haven’t gone for any maple syrup yet, get on it 🙂 Yummo!

Week 11 was a fun one…lots of playing around with my camera.
March 12 – Library Day – We LOVE the public library system in Ottawa. The main thing we’ll miss is the Museum passes. Those have saved us hundreds and hundreds of dollars!
March 13 – Bookworm – Within 30 seconds of getting into the car, she’s got her book out…and no more car seat…. I finally gave that up 😉
March 14 – Her Favourite – Other than books it’s swimming. We could have just gone to the pool all weekend and that would have been enough for this fish! I had to do A LOT of takes to get her positioned how I wanted for the photograph…glad she didn’t pass out!
March 15 – His Favourite – A boy and his trains 🙂 And food, can’t let go of an apple for a picture…no way!
March 16 – Tuckered Out – I love that he can’t go anywhere without Moosie and Teddy…
March 17 – Frozen – I dragged my poor girl out for a 60 second session in the cold…she could have laughed or cried as I know my hands were numb…I’m REALLY glad she laughed!!
March 18 – End of An Era – Sort of sad to see the penny go, but not really. We have enough change in Canada!

Wow…10 weeks and counting! I can’t believe I’ve stuck with it 😉 Often I would see the little things that my kids did and laugh or think, “Gee, I should take a photograph of that,” but then it just seemed like too much work to get my “big girl” camera out and the moment was lost. This project is making me keep it at the ready and catch all those quirky little expressions that really don’t last that long. That, my friends, is why photography is so important!

Week 9 was all about purging in our home…actually since about mid January I have been going through things and really trying to let go of some stuff that is clearly not needed. Especially if it hasn’t been used in the almost 5 years since we’ve lived in Ottawa! We’ve also really tried to take advantage of all of the amazing museums in Ottawa since we can access them through the library’s pass system. I will sure miss that and so will our kids!

Feb 28 Goggles – we have a hilarious picture of him in these goggles when he was little…
March 1 Letting Go – see what I mean? Why do I have soothers still???
March 2 RCMP Stables – awesome to have the opportunity to go in and pet the horses and do various other activities
March 3 Canadian War Museum – really fascinating and I even found my Great Grandpa’s conscription papers dated 1918. Some of the photography exhibitions are incredible there right now too!
March 4 Retro Games with Papa – this week it was a basketball game that was HARD!

The week of looove! Yup Valentine’s Day was this week and we had some fun playing with Sweet Tarts and heart bokeh. Not to mention skating at night at the cottage for Family Day! So.much.fun!
