Don’t you just love a crisp, sunny fall day? This series would look so great either as a storyboard or as a series on 8×10’s framed on the wall…LOVE them!
Enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts!!

I had the pleasure of photographing these two cuties this week and they stole my heart…{Big A} loves and I mean loves birds! She walked around saying, “Birdie, birdie, birdie!” so I brought a few invaluable wee decorative birds to grab her attention and boy did it work…until we had to take them away…sorry sweetie! I finally clued in that I should just tell her they flew away and then she was okay with it!
Throwing leaves was also a major highlight and made for a wonderful, spontaneous image 😉
And then there’s {Little A}…At 7 months she is so full of life and giggles! She was also exceptionally good for my ego as she thought I was the.funniest.person.ever! However, I’m not sure if I should be offended that she laughed hysterically when I ran or not…oh well, we got this image, so that’s all that matters!
And one more because she’s so stinkin’ cute, I can’t post only one image!!
Thank you so much for a wonderful, although chilly, morning {D & P}! I hope you enjoyed your sneak peak!!

A funny thing happened on the way to Grandma’s house…Picture this: I’m standing at the bottom of the stairs trying to herd the troops so we can get to Grandma’s house for supper. Down prances my daughter in a leotard, tiny brown shorts, head band and wrist bands to boot. It took all my strength not to laugh…a lot. I asked her if that’s really what she wanted to wear and, like any liberated six year old she said, “Uh, that’s why I put it on…?” with a look like “duh Mom??” (*Aside…isn’t she a bit young for the ‘tude?*)
On the short drive I kept looking in the rear view mirror thinking I had to record this time in her life as she is so alive, free spirited and confident in what she likes. I hope with every last fiber in my soul that she doesn’t lose this along the way as it’s what has always made her so special and unique. She’s always had this je ne sais quoi about her and I love her for it.
This past week on the only non-rainy, warmish day we finally did it. We caught her spirit and her ‘Jane McEnroe’ look. We have been talking about this session for months and she has been begging me to do it as I wouldn’t let her get her hair cut until we did…it just wouldn’t be the same without her hippy do.
So without further ado, I present my daughter channeling her inner ’70s look…
These rockin’ glasses were actually found at the bottom of the ocean in Hawaii when she was not quite 2…I like to pretend they’re some 60’s movie star’s shades, but that might be a stretch…a girl can dream though, right?
and last but not least…I shall call this one, “Lost”.
Happy Monday!

What a lucky day indeed! I had the pleasure of second shooting with Julie C Butler Photography on the Sunday of Thanksgiving for the beautiful and unique wedding of Julie & Jay. The weather was perfect, the leaves were golden and the bride, groom and wedding party were gorgeous!!
I started my day meeting ‘the boys’ at the hotel and got a lesson on how to tie a tie…I don’t know if it was nerves, but we had a lot of laughs at the origami creations they were making…I also never knew how important the size or length of a tie was…I never knew guys had ‘bad tie days’??:
…but then Jay got it right and looked fab!
Since it would be a long time until dinner, we scooted over to the local A&W and had a mini session there…my main job, next to capturing the images, was to ensure no one spilled down the front of their suit. I so wish I could have found bibs for the boys…would have made a great image!
I got back to the hotel and the pianist was playing some great tunes:
But, without further ado….drumroll please…here’s the GORGEOUS couple together…sigh…loved them!
Isn’t her red dress beautiful??
And the bridal party were stunning and hilarious!
Congratulations guys and thanks again for letting me be apart of your wonderful day! Oh and Jay…I still don’t get the “grassy nole” thing?!?

Imagine my surprise…I’m covering another event and in walks this dazzling beauty with her bike. Me: “Did you ride in that black dress on that cool bike?” Her: “Yup and it’s my birthday too!” Me: “Hop back on and we’re doing a mini session!”
Holy cow, it was so much fun! She’s gorgeous, her bike rocks and it has a beautiful story behind it to boot. Great things happen when you least expect it…
Happy Thanksgiving my Canadian friends!

Yup, she sure was everything nice…and so were her Mom and Dad. I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful family this weekend and it was a wonderful session! Both Mom and Dad were so relaxed, willing to help and loving to each other and their wee 5 week old baby girl. Yup, 5 weeks!
I normally schedule newborns while they are under two weeks of age – believe it or not day 7 seems to be magical! The main reason being is that once a baby is over two weeks, they tend to not want to bend and fold and will often wake more easily when posing. However, this beautiful girl did a great job during her modeling debut – lots of cute wide eyed shots and we did manage to get a few sleeping ones near the end (I guess she was bored of all my antics and decided to tune me out 🙂 )
So without further ado, I introduce Baby {C} to the world!
Enjoy the beautiful weather this week!

Poof!! Aaaand September is gone. I’m pretty sure it was washed away by all of the rain we’ve had. Making up for the summer, I suppose…I’m just glad it’s not the ‘s’ word 😉
It has been a very big month in our home for so many reasons. Our daughter has started Grade 1 which means full time school. She was so excited and so ready, but as the weeks wore on and she realized how little time there was left in the day, she became a little teary eyed lamenting the loss of playtime in the afternoon. She is, however, enjoying it immensely, to which I’m grateful!
Her first day images were pretty quick and dirty as it was a dark, dreary and pouring rain kind of day, but at least we have a record of what she looked like!
And my baby…my BABY started preschool this year. It was a rough go with my daughter when she started, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect from him. Much to my elation, he LOVES it and cries on the days he DOESN’T get to go…go figure…I can’t win. It’s one of those cruel jokes of Motherhood that no one bothers to tell you about!
He, thankfully, had a beautiful day so we could to take some time and get some great images of him getting ready for school…And to show off his new hair-do. Gone are the summer blonde surfer dude locks…sigh…It grows back, right?
So as we settle into our new routines, pull out the warmer sweaters and look forward to pumpkin pie & turkey, I can’t help but look ahead to the Christmas season…It sneaks up every year and fall bookings are starting to go quickly, so if you’re interested in a session, please contact me as soon as possible. I may also be opening up a fall mini-session date to accommodate as many people as possible. Details to follow.
‘Till then, have a great weekend!
Shona 🙂
I lover her. It’s as simple as that. Her funny faces, big doe eyes and sweet demeanor had me wrapped right around {Baby I’s} finger from the moment I met her!! At almost 8 months she’s at that wonderful age where she will sit relatively still before venturing into a leopard crawl…I had to work fast, but not nearly as fast as when photographing 2 year olds!! lol!
I hope you enjoy your sneak peak!
I recently had the pleasure of photographing these wee lads along with the rest of their family. The love that this family has for each other is palpable and it was such a pleasure to see them giggling and teasing each other. It made me REALLY miss my big brother and sad that we live so far away because it’s virtually impossible to be around him without laughing. Yup, he’s that funny. I digress though. I hope you enjoy the little sparkle in the boys’ eyes as much as I did!
