I love photographing newborns when they have a little squishy-ness to them 🙂 They’re so cute and cuddly and, well, squishy!

This, my friends, is why I love custom photography. I never in a bazillion years would have thought up the beautiful wall display this Mom created for her beautiful baby girl. I.loved.her.room.! It was also so thoughtful of her to coordinate it with my props! lol! 😉
She is such a beautiful newborn and there will be more images to come, but these just had to be shared right away! Thank you for inviting me into your home A & P and for putting up with all of my antics! Your daughter is gorgeous!!
That is an understatement. {M} is such a beautiful woman, inside and out and I feel privileged to call her my friend. For her 40th birthday (I know, she doesn’t look a day over 29 😉 ), she decided she’d like to capture herself, her family and her friends as they are today – happy, healthy and enjoying each others company. I was so happy to be her photographer as I KNEW the images would be beautiful ~ how could they not be with my subject matter?!
Without further adieu, here she is, the birthday girl & her gorgeous kids!
Happy Birthday pretty lady!

Yup, that’s what this beautiful Mommy to be said she was craving…and since she knows it will be a girl, we decided to have some fun!
All joking aside, she is just radiating beauty & warmth. I feel so lucky to have photographed her at this special time in her life and I cannot wait for the arrival of her baby girl!
Until then, rest up 🙂

My baby girl is growing up so quickly and I know this fact will only be magnified by 1000 once she’s in Grade 1 next year. She’s already reading chapter books and putting me to bed and has recently discovered “cootie catchers”…weren’t those called fortune tellers when we were kids? I dunno. I take solace in the fact that she still wears a unicorn necklace and most of her books are about fairies (although she is quite into her new “Children’s History of Scotland”…yup, she’s a geek).
As a photographer, I often forget about capturing our own little moments at home and freezing them in time the only way I know how. I need to get better at this…childhood is so fleeting and their interests and expressions change so quickly it’s exciting and sad all in the same…
Here’s a few of my cootie catchin’ 6 year old that she “permitted” me to take the other night…
Enjoy your weekend!
Shona 🙂
This weekend I had the pleasure of trying something new, surrounded by pretty things and people in love. I was thrilled to assist Stephanie, of Stephanie Cantin Photography at G & H’s beautiful wedding. Being the second shooter is so much fun and I enjoyed every single minute of it. The bride was glowing, the groom was smitten and Stephanie was amazing to work with. Thank you! 🙂
I’ve been lucky enough to borrow a macro lens this week and, unfortunately, haven’t had the chance to put it through its paces as much as I would have liked. BUT, I have learned a lot about what will work for me for the type of images I would like to one day achieve.
Which brings me to my point (yup, I have one today…pretty good, huh?). Regardless of your level in photography, I STRONGLY recommend renting lenses prior to purchasing. Not all lenses work for all people so it’s hard to go by what everyone else says. Really test drive it for a weekend and see if it’s something you would like. There are many many places that rent lenses and for a rather cheap price. For example, I rented a Canon 70-200 2.8L lens for the long weekend and it was only $40. It’s a fantastic lens and crazy sharp, but I just can’t justify a hefty purchase like that for what I do at the moment. It was a lot of fun and I’m glad I rented it, but I’m even more glad I didn’t buy it (that sucker is HEAVY!).
Here’s a few of my fledgling attempts with a macro…hope you enjoy and TGIF! 🙂
Years that is! I was honoured when a fellow Ottawa photographer asked if I would take some images of her with her husband of almost 11 years. Luckily the weather held out and we ended up with some lovely images…They were so calm and cool in front of the camera and you could tell the love was definitely still alive! Happy Anniversary you two lovebirds!
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a very beautiful 8 day old baby girl yesterday. She warmed my heart in every way and made me marvel, as I always do, at the shear tininess that is a newborn baby! Baby P really was a dream as she was a fantastic sleeper and if she stirred she would let me soothe her right back until she was putty in my hands! It’s not surprising though, as she has two of the nicest parents who were so laid back and at ease with my working with their lil’ bundle of goodness. Thank you so much for choosing me to photograph such an incredible time in your lives! I hope you enjoy your sneak peak!
